Pre-Columbian Society of Washington DC

An educational organization dedicated to furthering knowledge and understanding of the peoples of the Americas before the time of Columbus.

The Pre-Columbian Society of Washington, D.C. (PCSWDC), is an educational organization dedicated to furthering knowledge and understanding of the peoples of the Americas before the time of Columbus. Founded in 1993, the Society provides a forum for the exchange of information regarding these pre-Columbian cultures between academic professionals and interested members of the public.

Special Interest Groups

Members of the Pre-Columbian Society are encouraged to pursue their interests with like-minded enthusiasts by participating in or starting new Special Interest Groups (SIGs). These self-directing groups provide relaxed, informal settings where members can explore topics of interest in greater depth. SIG members decide the location and frequency of their meetings.

Current Special Interest Groups include the Book Club and the Glyph Group. Members can learn about the next meeting of the group that interests them in The Smoking Mirror, our monthly newsletter.

Pre-Columbian Society members may begin new SIGs by presenting their ideas to the Executive Committee for approval and support from the Society.
