Gender and Power in the Ancient Andes T-shirt

$5.00

This all-cotton blue t-shirt features a black line drawing of a Moche weapons bundle, consisting of a shield in the center in front of a war club and flanked by two spears. These weapons bundles are frequently depicted in Moche fineline paintings on stirrup-spout vessels in association with images of warfare or on their own. Similar weapons, such as war clubs, have been recovered from burials of women in the Moche region, which calls into question the relationship between gender and power in the ancient Andes. The graphic is by art historian Jeanette Nicewinter and is based on a drawing by Gerdt Kutscher. NOTE: Available only in Medium and Extra Large at this time.
